Community Leaders to Convene in Chicago to End Hunger

ChicagoLATINO Magazine will present a NO MAS HAMBRE Forum on Saturday, September 14 at the Greater Chicago Food Depository in Chicago. “Nearly one in three Latinos go hungry,” said LATINO Publisher Alfredo Estrada, “although many of us simply aren’t aware of this crisis. If we want to end hunger, we need to get our community actively engaged.”


“We are looking forward to working with NO MAS HAMBRE to improve the lives of struggling older adults in Chicago as the work we do continues to focus on empowering and connecting people over 50 with resources they may need,” said Jo Ann Jenkins, AARP Foundation President.


This event is part of NO MAS HAMBRE, a nationwide initiative launched by LATINO Magazine and the AARP Foundation to raise awareness of hunger in the Latino community and encourage Latinos to get involved. The Forum in Chicago will present ways to join the fight against hunger and cover the importance of a healthy diet, food insecurity among Latino elderly, SNAP outreach and other topics. Complimentary food and refreshments will be served. The audience will then participate in a question and answer session moderated by LATINO Publisher Alfredo Estrada with invited panelists and speakers, including:
